Do not forget your Passport. You must carry this in a safe place at all times while in Japan and at the airports.
If you forget your passport the day you leave home, you will not be able to leave Australia.
Reminders will be constant to everyone to ensure all passports are brought. Before the bus leaves we will also double check this.
IF - you loose your passport while in Japan, the itinerary may be disrupted, as we will need to visit the Australian Embassy. Remember to guard your passport at all times and if at anytime you feel unsafe to do so, please see your group teacher.
Teachers will also be carrying a photocopy of your passport as well.

A Tip from the Top
Do a practice pack of your luggage and test how much it weighs. Imagine carrying it up & down stairs in Japanese railway stations madly rushing to catch a train. Picture yourself walking long distances from the station to a Hotel dragging your suitcase (get one with sturdy wheels!), your hand luggage, camera etc. Can you manage it? YOU HAVE TO!! No-one else is going to! Take something out!
Washing:
· Coin op washers and dryers at Edoya Hotel, Tokyo
· Coin op laundry facilities at K’s House, Kyoto
· Washing machine/driers at Hiroshima International Plaza
Don’t buy souvenirs that may be illegal in Australia – this causes problems & big delays at Customs. If in doubt - DON'T!!
In particular this refers to weapons, esp trowing stars etc
Make sure that everything is clearly labelled and secure!
Checked Baggage weight limit 20Kg
Carry-on Baggage – 7kg
Be realistic about what you can buy & bring back for family and friends
Pack MUCH lighter for the trip over.
Secure wallet / purse or money belt
Japanese notes notes don't fit well into standard Australian Wallets, they sometimes stick out the top and can be damaged. Instead of buying a new wallet, a Money Belt may be the best way to keep the majority of your cash.
A coin wallet/purse is strongly recommended to collect change if your regular wallet or purse can not store large amounts of coins. Japan has many vending machines and is best to keep a lot of change handy!
ID Card
You will be given an ID card to place in your wallet/purse. This is an emergency card that has the name of our hotels, its phone number, teachers' phone numbers, your school's phone number and your home phone. Additional to this your card will have emergency numbers e.g. Ambulance, Fire and Police '119',
One side of the card will be in English, the other side will be in Japanese.
PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS CARD.
